Team Freiburg 2016-2017

The Global Order Team Freiburg is a group of students at the University College Freiburg (UCF). Starting in early 2017, talks and workshops will lead the project through the academic year.

Imke Steimann

Imke studies Liberal Arts and Sciences in her fourth year at the University College Freiburg. She is majoring in Governance with a focus on international relations and international law. Her year abroad at the University of Western Ontario in Canada fostered her preference for peace and conflict studies and counter-terrorism. Within the Global Order, she is particularly interested in the role of international institutions, such as the EU, NATO, or the European Court of Human Rights.

Katharina Pfeffer

Katharina is in her second year of studying Liberal Arts and Sciences at the University College Freiburg where she is majoring in Governance. She is particularly interested in International Relations and Political Economy and will spend her year abroad in Canada. Katharina joined the Global Order Project because she believes that global challenges have to be addressed and discussed in an interdisciplinary way and that the interaction of students and experts will foster creative solutions.

Veronika Datzer

Veronika is a Governance student in her fourth year at UCF. Her main interests are  international relations, peace and conflict studies, and international law.

Anastasiia Zubkova

Anastasiia Zubkova is in her 4th year studying LAS, majoring in Governance. She is particularly interested in how nationalism affects Global Sustainable Development.

Raphaël is a double-degree student from Maastricht who is studying at the UCF this year. He has a deep interest in political philosophy as well as political economy. Last year he co-organized the track on Citizenship and Identity at the Global Order Conference. He found it particularly instructive and stimulating, and is eager to take part in this year’s project.

Annika Hagel

Annika is currently in her second year of Liberal Arts and Sciences at the University College Freiburg, majoring in Governance. She joined the Global Order Project to be able to view region-specific developments in an international context. Her interests are in the fields of equality, international understanding as well as the politics and social structures of the Nordic countries and Asia which she plans to pursue further in her year abroad.

Jannik Schulz

In 2015 Jannik started studying Liberal Arts and Sciences at the University College Freiburg. He is majoring in Governance and is interested in political theory and International Relations. Especially, the European Union and their development are part of his academic focus. He plans on studying abroad next academic year at the University of Michigan.

Mareike Moraal

Mareike started studying Liberal Arts and Sciences in 2014 at the University College Maastricht. This year, she exchanged Maastricht for Freiburg to study political philosophy. Within the Global Order Project, she is especially interested in the interplay between nationalism and globalization.

Philip Reich

Philip started studying LAS at University College Freiburg in 2016, where he plans to major in Governance. Participating in the Global Order Project allows him to pursue his interests in political science.

Julia Karch

Julia started studying Liberal Arts and Sciences at the University College Freiburg in 2015. She is majoring in Earth and Environmental Sciences and is especially interested in the fields of Environmental Education and Resource Management. In 2017 she will spend a semester abroad to study about current environmental issues and changes in Southeast Asia at the Yale-NUS College in Singapore. She likes to engage in the Global Order Project as she cares about societal challenges on a global scale.

Alina Bätz

Alina is in her second year of Liberal Arts and Sciences at the University College Freiburg. Her major is Earth and Environmental Sciences and she is mainly interested in environmental politics and the rise of environmental movements. She views the “Global Order Project” as an ideal platform for discussions outside one’s comfort zone since it encourages exchange between people with different political attitudes.
